Hybrid Realities: A Group Exhibition Exploring the Fusion of Identity, Technology, and Abstraction, curated by Hoojung Lee
Palm Desert, CA – On April 4th, Art All Ways Projects is delighted to present Hybrid Realities, an exhilarating group exhibition featuring six groundbreaking contemporary artists: Justin Bower, Gary Lang, Sébastien Léon, Nyame Brown, Carlos Ramirez, and Nedo. The exhibition showcases 20 diverse artworks, encompassing paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed media. The exhibition will open on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at a pop-up venue located at 68845 Perez Rd. Bldg. H, Suite 6-7, Cathedral City, CA.
Hybrid Realities explores the intersection of hybrid identities, technological evolution, and abstract expression. The exhibition examines the convergence of digital distortion, geometric abstraction, Afrofuturist mythology, folk-influenced symbolism, hybrid pop-surrealism, and biomorphic forms. The six artists featured in this exhibition come from diverse ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, and generations. Their artworks reflect a world in flux where identity, culture, and perception converge in thought-provoking ways.
Featured Artists:
Justin Bower (b. 1975, San Francisco, CA) challenges the boundaries between the singularity of the human mind and technology through his hyper-digital, fragmented portraits. His work delves into the psychological impact of an ever-evolving digital landscape and parallel universes.
Gary Lang (b. 1950, Los Angeles, CA) presents his iconic concentric circle paintings, which create an immersive experience of pure color and rhythm and evoke cosmic, spiritual, and transcendent states.
Sébastien Léon (b. 1973, Blois, France) unveils a new body of hand-blown glass sculptures, which are manipulated and transformed shapes by applying flame, gravitational forces, and pressure. His biomorphic sculptures blur the lines between organic and industrial, evoking futuristic artifacts and natural phenomena.
Nyame Brown (b. 1971, San Francisco, CA) infuses Afrofuturist narratives into his oeuvre, creating powerful visual stories that bridge history, technology, and mythology.
Carlos Ramirez (b. 1967, Indio, CA) conveys a vibrant blend of folk and street art influences interwoven with pop iconography. His artistic expression draws deeply from his Chicano heritage, serving as a powerful platform to address profound multi-socio-political and cultural themes in his art.
Nedo (b. 1988, Ahnyang, South Korea) creates diverse motifs and still lifes inspired by contemporary domestic and pop cultures. Nedo renders his subjects in a flat, stylized manner and surreal, cartoonish compositions that evoke the bold, graphic language of the Pop-Art movement. While reminiscent of Cubist or expressionistic aesthetics, these reimagined works are grounded in a contemporary context. Art and commerce
"At its core, 'Hybrid Realities' revolves around the concept of transformation," says Hoojung Lee, the exhibition curator. "Each artist in this show operates at the edge of multiple worlds—be it digital and organic, abstract and figurative, personal and collective. Their works challenge the viewer to consider how our perceptions of self and society are constantly being reshaped."
The exhibition will be on view from May 10th to June 10th, 2025, with an opening reception on Saturday, May 10th, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, featuring a special artist talk and private tours available by appointment.
